You finally want to plan your own trip and skipper it yourself? Then the SKS at IN2THEBLUE is exactly the right licence for you. For us it is not only about passing a sailing exam โ€“ we want to teach you everything you need to command a yacht safely. You train harbour manoeuvres, anchoring, sail handling, crew management and everything you will need later as a skipper. With experienced instructors at your side, you grow step by step into your role as a skipper. At the end of the week you take the practical SKS exam and are ready to plan and lead your own trip. We offer you a marina with excellent training conditions, access to our Skipper 360ยฐ learning platform for all the online theory, and accommodation on board. CONTENT

We offer you a practical week including examination for the SKS sailing certificate for sailors resident in Germany. As a prerequisite you need:
SBF See and 300 nautical miles. The minimum age is 16 years.

The practical week with subsequent examination includes:
Seamanship and safety, berthing and unberthing manoeuvres, anchoring, picking up and leaving moorings, sailing manoeuvres, reefing, recovery manoeuvres under sail and motor, safety on board, navigation and meteorology. Final practical examination by the DMYV.

The theoretical training and examination for the SKS sailing certificate is available in the format of online live lessons at Ritzau-Yachting!

Frequently Asked Questions about the SKS Sailing Certificate

The Sportkรผstenschifferschein (SKS) qualifies you to skipper a yacht at sea within the 12 nautical mile zone and is the classic coastal certificate for German sailors. It is also highly regarded by many charter companies. The practical examination is conducted by the DMYV; the training is provided by us together with our partners Blue-2.at and Ritzau-Yachting.

For the SKS practical week you need the SBF See (Sportbootfรผhrerschein See) and 300 nautical miles sailed. The minimum age is 16 years. The offer is aimed at sailors resident in Germany.

The theoretical training and examination for the SKS runs conveniently as online live lessons with our training partner Ritzau-Yachting. This way you can prepare flexibly from home before continuing on the water.

You train all examination-relevant manoeuvres and topics: seamanship and safety, berthing and unberthing manoeuvres, anchoring, picking up and leaving moorings, sailing manoeuvres, reefing, recovery manoeuvres under sail and motor, safety on board as well as navigation and meteorology. You sail in a crew of maximum 6 people and stay overnight on board.

Depending on the trip duration, the practical week lasts 7 or 10 days, during which you cover between 180 and 300 nautical miles. The practical examination takes place on the last training day.

On the last training day you take the practical examination, which is conducted by the DMYV. The SKS training is carried out by our partner Ritzau-Yachting; our didactically top-trained and liability-insured instructors guide you step by step until then.
