In-Person Courses & Exam
We offer an in-person course followed immediately by an exam in Punat, Croatia. The course, including the exam, can be completed in just one day, after which you’ll receive your certificate issued by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) within 6 weeks.
Each course includes an RYA VHF handbook, which is sent to you in advance after signing up for your preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions – Maritime Radio (SRC)
The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the maritime radio license for the RYA GMDSS system, covering the VHF radios used on yachts. You need it as a prerequisite for various sailing qualifications and to charter recreational boats in countries such as Croatia. In short: if you want to skipper your own yacht, the SRC belongs in your pocket.
It is a streamlined, hands-on course with no unnecessary theory. The in-person course runs for about 8 hours and is followed immediately by the exam, so the course and exam are completed in a single day – plus roughly 2 hours of homework to prepare. You practice on modern VHF radios just like those found on yachts.
We run the in-person course and exam in Punat, Croatia, and the exams there are conducted by in2theblue. Exam dates are also available in Austria, so you can choose whatever fits you best.
All our RYA courses are conducted in English, in cooperation with our RYA partner – matching the international RYA standard for maritime radio.
The minimum age to take the SRC radio exam is 16 years. No special prior experience is needed – the course is designed to take you from the basics to a confident, exam-ready level in a short time.
The course includes an RYA VHF handbook, which is sent to you in advance once you have signed up so you can prepare. You also get the 8-hour in-person course and the exam in Punat, with your certificate issued by the RYA.
After you successfully pass, your certificate is issued by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and reaches you within about 6 weeks of the course.
