Offshore Racing. Female Power. The Goal: The Barcolana.

With HERidian we are opening a new chapter: the first all-female mid-distance offshore race of the HERizon series. An event entirely by women for women. 300 nautical miles from Punat to Trieste, where we show what we are made of.

Whether you are an offshore newcomer or an experienced gennaker trimmer: with us, you sail in an environment that encourages rather than judges. We bring female sailors from all over the world together to learn from each other, take responsibility for our crew, and grow together.

TRAIN & RACE

In 2 days of training, you will not only get to know & master your yacht better, but also grow together as a crew.
You will be supported by your female skippers and the coaches from in2theblue.

OUR boats

We sail a one-design fleet of up to 8 current Dehler 38 SQ performance yachts – fair, sporty, and challenging.

All boats are equipped with race sails (performance sails & race gennaker). Perfect conditions for intensive training and a demanding offshore race.

Your event

Sat Oct 2 | Arrival & check-in in Punat, training

Check-in, boat takeover, crew assignment, and safety briefing. Heading out for training.

Sun Oct 3 | Training

Shared breakfast
Training session: crew roles & communication, manoeuvre and gennaker training, trim.
After training, debriefing & tactics and watch system discussion.
From 8:00 PM official opening event

Mon Oct 4 – Thu Oct 7 | Race days

Category 3 offshore race over approximately 300 nautical miles from Punat to Trieste. Navigation, time management, and route planning around the clock – in a watch system, day and night.

Fri Oct 8 | Finish, award ceremony & party

Finish with the finish line right in the middle of the Barcolana buzz, directly in front of the harbor promenade of Trieste. Afterwards, award ceremony and closing party together with the Barcolana. The fastest boat wins a starting spot at the Barcolana! For everyone else, we offer the option of a discounted individual ticket.

Frequently asked questions

For women with a passion for sailing – as a full crew or an individual spot, for beginners as well as advanced sailors. Minimum crew: 6 women per boat, 7–8 are ideal. Offshore experience is an advantage but not a requirement: the two training days will prepare you.

Up to 8 identical Dehler 38 SQ performance yachts – fair, sporty, and challenging. All boats are equipped with race sails including a race gennaker.

On board your boat. Breakfast is included on Oct 3 & 4. If there are more participants than berths on board, additional participants will be accommodated on land or other sleeping boats.

Boat and berth, two training days, professional female coaches, race management & jury, regatta entry fees, 2x breakfast, technical crew shirt, life jacket, berth near Trieste, media coverage of the event, award ceremony & closing party, as well as the entire organization and event coordination.

Safety first. Race management and jury decide on site about the start, route, and postponements. If we have to wait, we have prepared an exciting alternative program.

€8,000 for the whole ship or an individual spot for €1,350. In addition, there is the base fee: €90 per person for an individual spot (transit log, deposit insurance, tourist tax, diesel, cleaning) or €70 per person for the whole ship (transit log, tourist tax, cleaning).
