Together with <strong>Daniel Kirchmeier<\/strong> and the <strong>Yacht Club Austria<\/strong>, the event was re-launched.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A key step was moving it to the <strong>centre of Punat<\/strong>. Thanks to our long-standing local contacts, we created a location where crews, yachts and the social side come together in one place. In 2026, <strong>42 yachts<\/strong> were on the start line \u2013 a new participation record. Sailing magazine Ocean7 also covered the AASW\u2019s development in depth.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the number alone isn\u2019t what matters. AASW is about what happens between races: crews meet on the pontoon, eat and celebrate together, and get to know new sailors. The motto <strong>\u201cSailing among friends\u201d<\/strong> sums up what the regatta week is all about today.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fuenf-bewerbe-fuer-einsteiger-und-erfahrene-crews\">Five races for beginners and experienced crews<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the water, AASW 2026 offered an exceptional range:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Austria Cup<\/strong> \u2013 First 35 one-design class<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Carinthian Racing Cup<\/strong> \u2013 Dehler 38 SQ<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Alpe Adria Racing Cup<\/strong> \u2013 First 36<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Alpe Adria Cup<\/strong> \u2013 open class<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Carinthian Cruising Trophy<\/strong> \u2013 cruising class<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This brings ambitious regatta crews together with cruising sailors and those getting their first taste of racing. Thanks to the YCA\u2019s Female Sailing focus and IN2THEBLUE\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/in2theblue.com\/en\/herizon-women-sail-race-academy-en\/\">women\u2019s training programme<\/a>, additional women\u2019s teams took part. <strong>Sanni Beucke<\/strong> joined for the first time as an Olympian.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One very special crew showed that regatta sailing isn\u2019t about age: <strong>five children aged eight to eleven<\/strong> sailed onto the podium under the leadership of pro skipper Kletzi Bayer. That mix is exactly what AASW is about \u2013 experienced racers, cruising sailors, women\u2019s crews, youth and first-time racers.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mehr-als-eine-regatta\">More than a regatta<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We don\u2019t want an event where crews split up after the finish line. All boats berth together, you talk through the race, and you sit together again in the evening. For the anniversary edition, a <strong>First 44 one-design class<\/strong> is planned for the first time. Participation will be deliberately limited to <strong>a maximum of 45 crews<\/strong> to preserve the quality and atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interest is huge: the one-design classes for 2027 were reserved in no time, and there\u2019s a waiting list for anyone else interested.
